About Us

Competence in AD – worldwide

Agraferm Technologies AG, based in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany, was founded in 2004 by a team of biogas experts who wanted to use their know-how to put an innovative anaerobic digestion concept into practice – our high-load digestion.

In the first few years, several plants were built in Germany and the performance of the technology was proven. In the subsequent years, the business gained an increasingly international orientation.

Agraferm is one of the few full service providers of agricultural and industrial anaerobic digestion (AD) plants. Our profound knowledge of process engineering is applied especially in plants of greater than 1 MW power. The largest plant, with 4000 m³/h CBG, is currently in construction.

In 2007, to expand its range, Agraferm purchased shares in BTA International GmbH, specialist for wet mechanical pre-treatment and anaerobic digestion of organic residues like food waste, commercial waste or biowaste. Since 2014, Agraferm has been the majority shareholder of its subsidiary BTA. In 2017 Agraferm became the sole owner of BTA by aquiring all outstanding shares.

Together, the corporate group with around 80 employees has more than 100 reference plants in over 20 countries in four continents and can process virtually all input materials that contain organic material.
